Incoming 7th Grade English Summer Assignment
Attention incoming 7th graders: You are required to read at least two books from the attached list. Upon returning to school in September, be prepared to write a 5 paragraph book report summarizing each book that you will turn into your 7th grade english teacher on September 17, 2010.
Fall Registration
The school office will be open throughout the summer. Fall Registration packets are available daily from 8 am - 12 pm. Please call with any questions, 818-832-6900.
Frost Middle School thanks Career Day volunteers.
Frost Middle School conducted its annual Career Fair on June 4, 2010. It was a huge success.

Eighth Grade Awards Night--Thursday, June 17th at 6:00 p.m.
An 8th Grade Awards Night will be held on Thursday, June 17th at 6:00 p.m. on the Honor Court Stage. Students who will be recognized received invitations in their 2nd period classes on Friday. Parents will receive notification early next week.
6th Grade Magnet Cabrillo Beach Field Trip
On Wednesday June 16, 2010, Ms. De Sensi and Ms. Fernandez's sixth grade classes will visit Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro.
LAUSD School Police K-9 Unit visit.
Officer Phelp and Nellie, the narcotics detection dog, will be visiting Frost again on Monday, May 24, 2010. As part of our ongoing effort to keep our campus drug free this team along with an administrator will conduct random searches on that day.
Subway Supports Frost 8th Grade
Rajan Alagh, a Frost alumni, of Northridge Subway is partially sponsoring the lunch for our Eighth Graders at their annual softball game.
SAS Confirmations for Resident Students
For those students who reside within the Frost M.S. boundaries, are identified gifted, and plan to attend Frost M.S. in the fall, please electronically submit the attached confirmation form.
Open Enrollment Applications available May 3, 2010 to May 28, 2010
School for Advanced Studies Applications 2010-2011
Students who do not reside within the attendance area for Frost MS and qualify for the SAS program must submit an application in May. Applications are available from May 3 - May 27, 2010.
8th Grader, Omar Quezada Honored as Volunteer of the Year
On April 12th, eighth grader, Omar Quezada was honored by the County of Los Angeles as 2010 Youth Volunteer of the Year. Omar has been volunteering the last two years at El Cariso Park in Sylmar.
Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day - April 22, 2010
2010 Theme is "1 Youth, 1 Dream, 2Morrow's Leader". This is a national day for schools and communities to work together to create meaningful interactions for students eight to eighteen years old. The program is designed to be more than "shadowing" an adult.
Our Annual Career Day will be held on June 4, 2010
Helping students learn about the world beyond the walls of the home and school is one of the major goals at Frost Middle School. In an attempt to have our students learn about the world of work, we are planning for our annual CAREER DAY. To do so, we need your help.
Nominations for Student of the Month
Teachers are now submitting their nomination for April's Student of the Month. Students are nominated on the basis of effort and achievement, being positive role models and demonstrating excellent citizenship. This is an opportunity to recognize our student's positive behavior, so teachers submit your nominations to Mrs. Melville before April 23rd.

Attendance Awards
An Attendance Awards Raffle will be held April 30 @ lunch. To encourage and acknowledge students who have maintained perfect attendance during the previous 10 week grading period, we will be holding another Attendance Awards Raffle at the end of April. There is a strong correlation between good school attendance and academic success. Students who maintain regular attendance are present for not only valuable classroom instruction, but also have the opportunity to ask questions and participate in activities that make learning more meaningful. Every day is important. As CST Testing grows near, teachers are providing additional review to assist students in reaching proficiency Parents you can help by making certain your children arrive on-time each morning and are absent only when necessary.
Daniel Zatorski & Amber Edemann are Crowned Running Champions for the 2010 Frost Run 4 Fun
Daniel Zatorski and Amber Edemann were the overall winners in this morning's Frost Run 4 Fun. Daniel won with a convincing 15:54 a day after breaking the record for the mile at Frost with a 5:34.

62 Students participated in this year's event. They were selected as the top runners in each class. All students received a goody bag with some Runner's World magazines, LAS&F Magazines, and Clif Bars. Food, water, prizes and raffle items were donated by Phidippides, Runner's World, Clif Bar, the LA Triathlon Club, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Skecher's Shoes and Runnergy Running Store.

The event was held on the grass field, blacktop and around the perimeter of the school. Congratulations to all the participants. The top 3 in each grade level are posted below. Complete results can be found by clicking on the link below.
Congratulations to Parent Center Grand Opening Raffle Winners
Ten winning tickets were drawn at the end of Open House on Tuesday, March 23rd. Prizes have been delivered to students.
