Established in the fall of 1999, Frost Magnet has an enrollment of 365 students, with approximately 120 in each of the three middle school grade levels. Our small size allows us to fully implement the “Small Learning Community” environment now being embraced by educators nationwide. Our students truly become part of a community of learners. Small class sizes are designed to meet the needs of all students at Robert Frost Magnet.

Robert Frost Magnet enriches the Los Angeles Unified School District’s core curriculum and instructional programs by engaging students in inquiry-based activities that develop conception learning throughout the curriculum. Technology is used as a tool for acquiring and demonstrating knowledge. Students are presented with an integrated curriculum that emphasizes the use of technology in both the learning process and the presentation of ideas and information. Transportation is available and provided to students who participate in Magnet programs who live outside a two-mile radius or outside the magnet school attendance boundary.

 

A fully equipped computer lab is available for Magnet students.  In addition, each classroom has a multimedia unit, along with a scanner and printer.  Students have access to digital multimedia equipment for recording, editing, playback and presentation . Throughout the instructional program, students apply, refine and extend computer and Internet related competencies developed in their 6th grade technology class.
