In accordance with the American School Counseling Association (ASCA), Frost Counselors are responsible for services
covering Academic, Personal/Social, and Career domains. These services may be delivered on individual, small group,
class, and whole school levels.
Academic
Academic Counseling involves class selection/programming for individual students, education and guidance for small
groups and classes, facilitating communication among students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
Personal/Social
Personal/Social Counseling addresses short-term needs for students experiencing the myriad of issues typically affecting
middle school. Interpersonal relationships, verbal and non-verbal communication skills, conflict resolution, study skills,
environmental influences, stress management and coping strategies are a few of the many areas in which counselors are trained.
Career
Counselors offer access to online and written resources regarding future success in college and the workplace. A spring
career fair will introduce students to various professions.
